Costus is a tropical fleshy-leafed perennial plant with leaves that spiral up the stem. The Costus Ethryophyllus (aka. Oxblood Ginger) has waxy dark green leaves with dark red undersides, and white and pink showy flowers when in bloom.
It is easy to grow and likes morning sun exposure with afternoon shade.
They require copious and regular amounts of water.
